UT Takes Look at New Central Library Landscaping Plan
UT Takes Look at New Central Library Landscaping Plan
Landscaping work begins next month
August 31
UT San Diego’s Roger Showley took a closer look at landscaping plans for the New Central Library.
The article notes that the landscaping plan calls for ”green screen” of honeysuckle vines. This ”living wall” weaves through a 24-foot-high stainless steel mesh on the ninth floor. “The green wall will overlook a sculpture courtyard, paved with river rocks,” Showley notes. “The exterior of the ninth floor level also will include an outdoor terrace. This level is where the library’s board room, local history room, rare books room and art gallery are planned, along with a special events room for up to 500 guests.”
Ground floor trees will include California pepper, jacarandas, London plane, American gum and Tipuana Tipu, or rosewood.
